Katy Perry is just one of the many incredible performers at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival, which takes place over two nights at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 20 and 21.

We’re so looking forward to seeing this adorable, quirky singer perform live. Aside from being a chart-topping pop star, there are so many reasons why we love Katy! Check out our top 5 things we “heart” about her …

1. She Writes Her Own Music

Katy is one of the few recording artists who still writes her own music and we respect her so much for that. Because her songs all hold a piece of her, we feel like we know the real Katy Perry just by listening to her music! And her latest single, “Roar” (from her upcoming album, Prism), tackles bouncing back from her painful divorce from Russell Brand.

2. She Has the Coolest Style

Katy rocks that glam-girly-hipster look, and we’re in love with it. She isn’t afraid to be a little out there with her wardrobe, and the risks she takes with fashion make her such a great style icon.

3. She Loves Her Family

Despite her massive stardom, Katy stays grounded thanks to her supportive family. She grew up in a religious household and has the word “Jesus” tattooed on her wrist to remind her of her roots. She also loves spending time with her grandma, as evidenced by her Instagram feed!

4. She’s a Creative Cat Lady

Katy is a cat lady and she’s not afraid show to it! Her Twitter feed is littered with references to her feline friend, who is creatively and perfectly named “Kitty Purry.”

5. Her Songs Have Amazing Meanings

Sure “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” was a fun party jam, but songs like “Firework” and “Roar” hold culturally and politically relevant meanings and work to make her listeners feel good. “Firework” is targeted towards anyone who feels ashamed because of their sexuality. Katy reminds these fans that they are perfect in their own unique way. “Roar,” on the other hand, gives encouragement to fans who are feeling down and out. She sings “You held me down, but I got up/ Already brushing off the dust/ You hear my voice, you hear that sound/ Like thunder, gonna shake the ground” pushing her fans to stand strong after tragedy. We love that her pop anthems carry such positive messages!

Don’t miss Katy at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival! If you weren’t able to snag tickets (it’s already sold-out), the performances will be broadcast live across Clear Channel radio stations in 150 markets nationwide and will also air as a two-night special on the CW on September 30 and October 1 at 8 p.m.
