Remembering Cory Monteith: His 10 Best ‘Glee’ Performances

On Saturday, Hollywood lost a beloved, talented actor. Cory Monteith, the star of Fox’s hit series Glee, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room. He was just 31 years old. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Cory played Finn Hudson, the quarterback-turned-singing sensation who was always there to provide a helping hand or lend a listening ear to his friends and classmates.

Cory was often described as very closely resembling the character he played in the show in that both are humble, understanding, and caring. Though he may no longer be with us, Cory’s voice will continue to impact audiences across the world.

10. Can’t Fight This Feelin’
Cory’s enthusiastic shower-performance of this REO Speedwagon hit immediately cued audiences into his incredible vocal prowess. Cory started off the first-ever episode of Glee with a bang and quickly became one of the show’s most beloved characters.

9. Don’t Stop Believin’
Glee‘s rendition of this Journey song was so inspirational and really showcased Cory’s sweet personality and talent.

8. I’ll Stand By You
If any song describes Finn Hudson, it’s “I’ll Stand By You” by The Pretenders. Throughout the show, he always stood by his friends and family, remaining fiercely loyal even through dark times.

7. Jessie’s Girl
We always loved Finn’s performance of “Jesse’s Girl” by Rick Springfield. His confident rendition of the tune was so endearing.

6. Losing My Religion
When we heard Cory do this rendition of the R.E.M. song, we could really feel the passion and emotion in his voice. His capacity as both a singer and an actor were very clear when he performed this rock beat.

Cory’s sweet performance of this Bruno Mars song made our hearts melt.

4. The Man in the Mirror
If there’s one singer who is always difficult to cover, it’s Michael Jackson. But Cory was able to do an incredible rendition of this pop song. He really did the upbeat tune justice.

3. I Just Can’t Stop Loving You
In another episode, Cory again did a lovely cover of a popular Michael Jackson tune. Cory and Lea’s on-screen chemistry always felt so authentic, making their duets so meaningful and beautiful. This duet by “Finchel” aired during the third season and gave audiences a glimpse into the fairytale relationship between Cory and Lea.

During Season 4, Cory covered “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House, bringing together almost the entire Glee cast. We love this performance because it shows off Finn’s ability to unite everyone and create something beautiful.

This heart wrenching performance by Cory and the other Glee singers highlights Cory’s amazing abilities as a vocalist. This Coldplay song feels especially poignant in this difficult time and continues to remind us of Cory’s incredible life and career.
